Food allergies and vacation can be a hard combination.  You want to enjoy yourself but where do you go?   With a lot of research and planning, you can vacation almost anywhere.  There are plenty of places you can go with some moderate amounts of research that are known to work well with allergies and have great practices in place to keep you safe!

  • Walt Disney World is known for its incredible allergy chefs.  Some of the chefs have fans who make sure they see them every trip and even know if they switch restaurants!  The chefs there know the right steps to keep guests safe and limit cross-contamination exposure.  This is a great destination for all ages!

  • Universal Orlando has worked hard to become better with its allergy options.  For my first visit in 2012, they had very limited options.  I did not have much hope when I returned in 2016 but I was pleasantly surprised!  Since then, they have only gotten better and I love visiting there!  I have stayed for multiple visits and had some excellent safe meals every time.  They also work hard to eliminate any cross-contamination exposure.  This is a great destination for all ages but especially for families with older children and couples.

  • Sandals and Beaches Resorts are a couple of great options for those looking for an all-inclusive vacation to the Caribbean.  Sandals Resorts are couples-only luxury resorts in the Caribbean while Beaches Resorts are great for family vacations.  These resorts are perfect for those with food allergies as they work hard to make sure you have safe and good meals while you are on vacation!  If you’re looking for a relaxing vacation with a variety of activities included in the price, Sandals and Beaches Resorts will top your list of places to go!

  • Disney Cruise Line also excels at keeping those with celiac disease and food allergies safe!  My favorite part of Disney Cruises is that the server moves with you each night…  No explaining your allergies for each and every meal!  For me, I would choose my dining choices for the next day the night before.  At dinner, I would choose where I’d be dining the next day for breakfast and lunch and let them know what I’d like to eat. Dinner is decided for you unless you choose to book a meal at an adult-only restaurant such as Remy’s or Palo.

  • Royal Caribbean Cruise Line has also proven to be a safe place to cruise for me. So far, I have sailed on Icon of the Seas, Liberty of the Seas, and Wonder of the Seas and had safe food. Because some of the ships are different sizes, each time has been different in the process I follow for getting safe food. Dinner has been pre-ordered every time, but breakfast and lunch have sometimes also been ordered at night, and sometimes I just go up and order with a chef for those meals. Make sure to talk to your head server to find out the process for your ship.

There are plenty of other allergy-friendly destinations out there that we can help you plan your vacation to with some extra research, but these are my favorites that I’ve found to be tried and true for me.
